چکیده

Abstract Microstructure characterization and reconstruction (MCR) is an important prerequisite for empowering accelerating integrated computational materials engineering. Much progress has been made in MCR recently; however, the absence of a flexible software platform it difficult to use ideas from other researchers develop them further. To address this issue, work presents MCRpy as easy-to-use, extensible open-source platform. can be used program with graphical user interface, command line tool Python library. The central idea that microstructure formulated modular optimization problem. In way, arbitrary descriptors loss functions combining minimized using optimizers reconstructing random heterogeneous media. With stochastic optimizers, leads variations well-known Yeong–Torquato algorithm. Furthermore, features automatic differentiation, enabling utilization gradient-based optimizers. work, after brief introduction underlying concepts, capabilities are demonstrated by exemplarily applying typical tasks. Finally, shown how extend defining new descriptor readily without additional implementation effort.

Microstructure reconstruction using entropic descriptors

A multi-scale approach to the inverse reconstruction of a pattern’s microstructure is reported. Instead of a correlation function, a pair of entropic descriptors (EDs) is proposed for stochastic optimization method. The first of them measures a spatial inhomogeneity, for a binary pattern, or compositional one, for a greyscale image. The second one quantifies a spatial or compositional statistic...

Characterization of carbonic anhydrase XIII in the erythrocytes of the Burmese python, Python molurus bivittatus.

Carbonic anhydrase (CA) is one of the most abundant proteins found in vertebrate erythrocytes with the majority of species expressing a low activity CA I and high activity CA II. However, several phylogenetic gaps remain in our understanding of the expansion of cytoplasmic CA in vertebrate erythrocytes. In particular, very little is known about isoforms from reptiles. The current study sought t...

Three-Dimensional Microstructure Reconstruction Using FIB-OIM

A new method for reconstructing a three-dimensional microstructure using the focused ion beam-orientation imaging microscopy (FIB-OIM) is introduced. The technique is important for the study of three-dimensional microstructures of materials because it can automatically align (register) a series of parallel sections with both topological information and orientation information at the sub-microme...
